Color compositions

To find the right color palette as a starter for the digital piece, I chose existing ones from various images that I pixelated, blurred, and played around with the different blending modes before settling down with just using ‘Multiply’ since it already gave off a certain sense of eeriness, depth and just the fact that this place is abandoned and isn’t something seen as welcoming.
Although most of these display a large amount of orange-y/warmer tones, Example 1, 3, 6 including the much cooler colored one (#4) were some of the examples that were much more visually pleasing and fitting.
I did find it interesting how Example 2 gave this feeling of having the POV of some sort of character that had woken up in a pod and is gazing down upon the bridges and everything around him, the color itself, or more like how it was put together makes it look like the tinted glass of the pod, and the blurred dark areas going along the top and bottom being the person’s eyelids. Unfortunately, it wasn’t something I was looking for, especially since it looks more monochromatic in a sense.
1 and 2 already have—more or less—the right position for the lighting and the coppery/rusty look of old metal. Even if the third example looks much too light to give the impression of it being in space, this could be fixed by playing around with the colors/values and painting them in the right places.
The dark blue coloring in Example 3 does emphasize the cosmic vibe a bit more, and honestly if I fix the colors up a bit and merge the warmer colors from the other color compositions into the fog for the main source of light, things might end up looking nice for the final piece.
