Environment project-progress pieces

After having more or less settled down with our ideas for our final design of our environment, we made a mock-up drawing of the piece down on a simple piece of paper before going on to the bigger one. Even after that, we had to change up a few major things and struggle with the perspectives of the different elements within it like: The bridge—which had also been moved to create a new visual point of interest (on the statue) and put less attention on the pods beneath them—and the position of the many spikes of its railings, adding a new walkway/bridge along with windows in the place of what were formerly supposed to be pillars (seen on the first example), a wall of pods underneath the second walkway and finally a cable in the foreground on the far left which would attract the viewer’s attention first before directing it down towards the statue in the background. It makes it feel more natural and less central like on the draft.
Before the other details have been added onto the piece, I wanted to create a rough visual representation of where the shadows and lighting would be positioned before adding it on the paper itself. Our main and biggest light source comes from underneath the bridges in the form of a dense white fog which illuminates the bottom of the pods as well as all other objects and drowns the top of some areas in shadows while some of the other items are situated under artificial lightings like the statue, pods and the natural lighting coming from the windows. Since this is supposed to be located in space and is surrounded by a dark, star-filled void, the light originating from outside will be faint.
